The Arvedi Group on Wednesday filed an expression of interest in taking over the steelworks of the troubled ILVA Group, sources close to the group told ANSA. The Arvedi group is a Cremona-based special-steels manufacturer.
Another expression of interest has been filed by the government-controlled investment bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti while the Marcegaglia Group has also said it is poised to do so.
The deadline for filing under terms of a government decree signed last month is today, February 10.
Extraordinary commissioners are managing ILVA as the troubled firm goes through a massive environmental cleanup and financial turnaround project. A court this year declared ILVA insolvent, with debt totalling nearly three billion euros.
