Pope Francis on Thursday said he hoped that the Paris climate summit, COP21, "leads to sealing a global and transformative accord, based on the principles of solidarity, justice, equity and participation, and is aimed at reaching three interdependent goals: cutting the impact of climate change, fighting poverty and respecting human dignity".
Francis said at UN HQ in Nairobi that "it would be sad and I would dare to say even catastrophic that private interests should prevail over the common good and should arrive at manipulating information to protect their projects".
