Rome's police headquarters will add 140 patrol cars together with 50 motorcycle cops and about 100 unmarked cars as part of its logistical support for the upcoming Jubilee Holy Year, police sources said on Wednesday.
The patrol cars will be gradually introduced into service throughout the capital beginning Thursday, progressively supplementing security both in the Jubilee areas and the outskirts of Rome. All of the logistical support vehicles are scheduled to be in service by the end of December.
The Jubilee Year begins on December 8 when Pope Francis will open the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica.
