Chaouqui threatened co-defendant Monsignor Lucio Vallejo Balda
in a WhatsApp conversation, prosecution documents showed
Wednesday.
"I'm tired of being your nursemaid," she said. "If you make
trouble...you can kiss your security and protection goodbye".
Pope Francis personally authorised the arrests of Balda and
Chaouqui in the document-leaking scandal known as Vatileaks 2,
according to a trial summons.
They are on trial in the Vatican along with the cleric's
secretary and two investigative journalists accused of using
leaked documents for two books on alleged financial
mismanagement and clerical overspending.
