Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has outperformed the European car market last month, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said Friday.
FCA sales rose 15.6% in September, with growth of 13.8% in the first nine months of 2015, led by Fiat and the success of the Jeep model. Volkswagen also was in positive territory in spite of an emissions-fixing scandal, with sales up 8.4% in September. European auto sales added 9.8% in September over the same period last year, in a continuing growth trend that has seen sales up 8.8% in the first nine months of 2015. The data covers the EU-28 countries as well as Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.
