Italy will ask its euro zone partners to back a common unemployment benefit to protect European unemployed from future economic shocks, Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan said in an interview with the Financial Times online Monday. He said he would present the proposal Tuesday in Luxembourg. The Italian government has been considering a new jobless benefit for the country. Italy is one of only two euro zone countries, along with Greece, that currently does not have a basic-income provision.
