Asylum seekers living in a tent
camp in the northern city of Lecco have been the object of
verbal abuse and attacks, media reported Thursday.
People were reported to have hurled racist insults as they
drove past the camp in the Bione neighbourhood at speed.
Bottles containing urine have also been thrown, a
representative of the Arca foundation that runs the camp said.
"There are always spiteful people who think that it is
right to insult the refugees and those that help them as they
drive past," said camp manager Massimo Chiodini.
