Italian households' purchasing power increased 0.2% in the second quarter of 2015 with respect to the previous three months and 1.1% compared to the same period last year, Istat said on Thursday. The national statistics agency said there was a 0.5% increase in income compared to the first quarter and 1.3% increase compared to the April-June period in 2014.
The value of Italian households' consumer spending increased by 0.7% in the second quarter of 2015 compared to the previous three months and by 0.8% with respect to the same period in 2014, Istat added. The national statistics agency also said that Italians' propensity to save fell by 0.2 of a percentage point in the second quarter with respect to the first, taking it to 8.7%. This, however, was 0.5 of a percentage point higher than the same period last year.
