Premier Matteo Renzi's office on Thursday denied that the Democratic Party (PD) leader had said that he would "abolish the Senate and turn it into a museum" - comments attributed to him by a daily newspaper. The office said referred to a "vulgar, absurd sentence that Renzi never said, or thought". Renzi's government is seeking to push through a bill to change the Constitution to transform the Senate into a leaner assembly of local-government representatives to save money and make passing legislation easier.
