Premier Matteo Renzi said Monday
that "December 16 will be the last time taxes will be paid on
primary residences. The primary residence will once again be
exempt from taxes, someone who has worked 30 years and has a
mortgage, it's only fair he shouldn't have to pay anything". As
for the shortfall in funds that will be produced for local
authorities, Renzi said "we will give a corresponding cheque to
the mayors".
