The number of Italian visitors to the Milan Expo 2015 world's fair have been positive while the number of foreign visitors has disappointed, Italian hoteliers said Tuesday.
Expo will have seen around 16 million Italian visitors by the time it closes on October 31, Italian hotel association Federalberghi said. "A certainly flattering figure which helped restart the whole country's tourist industry," said Federalberghi chief Bernabò Bocca.
Expo has been a domestic success but less so for foreign visitors, Federalberghi said. "Sadly, from our terminals in Lombardy and roundabouts we haven't seen the flows from abroad which had been forecast on paper," said Bocca.
