The Italian Treasury on Thursday
about 4.8 billion euros in 5-year and 10-year bonds, at
declining yields.
The benchmark 10-year BTP in particular sold at a yield of
1.83% compared with 2.35% at the last auction of similar bonds.
The Treasury said it sold 2.48 billion euros of the 10-year
paper.
The yield on 5-year BTPs slid to 0.77% compared with 1.25%
at the previous operation for 1.9 billion euros sold.
Also placed were 1.75 billion euros in Treasury bonds with
a yield of 0.67%.
The falling yield suggest stronger demand for Italian bonds
by investors.
