Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. on
Thursday reported first-semester net profit of 1.3 billion
euros, up 21.6% over the same period in 2014.
Its operating result also rose by 11.3% to 2.8 billion
euros, its best performance for eight years.
Total premiums rose by 7.3% to over 38 billion euros,
driven by a 10.6% growth in life insurance policies.
"By the end of the year we expect to have improved net
profit significantly with respect to 2014 by maintaining the
high growth in profitability achieved during the semester," CEO
Mario Greco said.
Generali shares rose by 3.24% to 18.1 euros in early
trading on the Milan stock exchange following the financial
report.
