Carabinieri paramilitary police
said Wednesday they had arrested a gang of 13 robbers on charges
of posing as Carabinieri and finance police and using fake
search warrants to gain entry to homes where they carried out a
rash of thefts, police said.
In all the gang carried out eight robberies in Naples and
Castel Volturno between March and December 2014 while
Carabinieri foiled many other planned thefts by the gang.
During the crackdown Carabinieri seized seven waistcoats
with fake Carabinieri and finance police identification, a
starter pistol and 10 fake police berets.
The 13 were charged with belonging to a criminal gang set
up to carry out thefts and burglaries, using weapons illegally
and pretending to be police officers.
