Antonio Patuelli, the head of
Italian banking association ABI, on Wednesday blasted the
European Union, saying the rules it imposed on lenders hampered
economic growth. "We don't like this Europe, it's not what we
want," Patuelli said in his annual report to the ABI assembly.
"It's a bicycle with unbalanced pedals, with one part pushing
for development and the other creating too many rules that are
increasingly strict for banks' capital... This complicates the
recovery".
