One-quarter of Italians earned
less than 10,000 euros in 2012, and just over half earned less
than 30,000 euros annually, national statistics agency Istat
reported Monday.
Only 2.4% reported income of more than 70,000 euros, the
agency said, and 17.6% earned between 30,000 euros and 70,000
euros annually.
According to Istat, the average worker took home just over
half - about 53% - of total income in 2012, with rest taken up
by taxes and social contributions.
Premier Matteo Renzi last year introduced a tax bonus of 80
euros per month for lower-income Italians.
