Fully 70% of new jobs in Italy
in the third quarter of this year were filled by temporary
contracts, according to labour ministry statistics released
Friday that highlighted the precariousness of the employment
picture. That marked an increase of 1.8% compared with the same
July through September period in 2013, the ministry said. Its
report came at the same time as new data showing a jump in the
national unemployment rate in October to 13.2% and an increase
in youth joblessness to 43.3%.
