A Tuscan priest who was apparently filmed squeezing the private parts of a detective posing as a parishioner during a purported "exorcism" has been placed under investigation by his diocese, Church authorities said Friday.
The detective's meeting with the priest was filmed by the Jene popular candid camera troupe for a program aired on Italia Uno Wednesday.
The TV troupe set up the sting operation after a couple told reporters that the husband was sexually molested by the priest when they sought his help.
The detective posed as a parishioner needing help and was subjected to the same "treatment" as the husband, Italia Uno said.
The diocese of San Miniato to which the priest belongs was quoted as saying that a canonical investigation has been opened and "measures have already been taken to prevent similar measures are never repeated, not excluding in case of repetition removal from the priesthood".
