A new jobless benefits system
must be in place as of 2015, Premier Matteo Renzi told the
Senate Tuesday.
"Our labor law needs to be radically changed, so that
ideological derbies no longer take center stage," he said.
"We must also simplify jobless benefits rules, and guarantee
unequivocal and identical safeguards for all".
As well, the premier said that those who would "apply the
Spanish model" in Italy are mistaken.
"Reducing the cost of labor makes sense, but cuts in wages
are out of the question," the premier said.
The government's 10% cut in the IRAP regional business tax
is "a fundamental first step, one that reverses the tendencies
of the past," said Renzi.
