The Italian government is
considering a tax break aimed at encouraging more private and
public vehicle purchases as a tool of economic stimulus,
Transport Minister Maurizio Lupi said Tuesday.
Officials are considering different "incentives" to
stimulate activity in the auto sector, said Lupi, adding that he
would meet Wednesday or Thursday with Industry Minister Federica
Guidi to develop a plan for Treasury approval
Italy has one of the oldest automobile fleets in Europe and
it needs refreshing, he added.
