Pope Francis has
excommunicated a dissident Austrian couple who have been calling
for reforms to the Catholic Church, according to a report
Thursday in an Austrian newspaper.
Martha Heizer, 67, and her husband Gert, said they were
"outraged" by the move, according to the Tiroler Tageszeitung,
and cited by the Catholic website kath.net.
The couple founded a dissident movement called We Are the
Church and simulated Mass in their home, which the Church lists
as one of its "delicta graviora" or grave offenses, warranting
excommunication.
