Pope Francis will demonstrate that the Catholic Church is concerned with the problems of humanity, just like his predecessors John Paul II and John XXIII, Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin says in a new book to be released on Thursday.
"Like those two great popes, Pope Francis will find the right words to show that the Church is concerned not just with its internal problems, but with those of humanity, and particularly with those of that large part of humanity that is a victim of violence and marginalisation," the cardinal says in 'The Popes of Peace' by ANSA journalists Nina Fabrizio and Fausto Gasparroni.
"Once again he will demonstrate that the Church does not move to protect its own rights or invoke privileges for itself, but to defend the rights of every man and every woman, especially when these have been violated," continues Parolin, who replaced old-guard stalwart Tarcisio Bertone on January 15.
"I think this will have a positive resonance today as well, in particular thanks to the direct and 'ordinary' language that has been so successful so far," he concludes. The book is being published ahead of the canonisation of John Paul II and John XXIII in the Vatican on April 27.
