(see related) (ANSA) - Rome, December 17 - Italian Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Angelino Alfano on Tuesday said those behind the degrading treatment of immigrants at the Lampedusa island detention center will be held responsible. "We will find out who is responsible and we will make them pay," the minister told reporters. Prosecutors have requested a detailed report from the private company the government hired to run the detention center, he added. "We expect that report within 24 hours," the minister said. "We will then be able to ascertain the reasons for what happened, and we will decide accordingly".
