(ANSA) - Rome, December 16 - About half of Italian families were living on a net income of just over 24,000 euros per year, or about 2,053 per month, in 2011, the national statistical agency Istat reported Monday. In its latest report on family income in Italy, the agency studied statistics from 2011 - when Italy's worst recession since the Second World War was just beginning - to find that the richest 20% of Italians accounted for 37.5% of total income. In the south, family budgets were slightly weaker than the national average, with 50% of households receiving less than 20,129 euros annually, or about 1,677 euros per month.
